What a disappointment! My 4 yr. old daughter absolutely LOVES the Backyardigans so I thought this would be a perfect to sneak in some learning. It is more like a DVD than a video game in that there is a lot of animated "filler" as kids navigate from activity to activity. The only skills that are practiced are counting (in a Frogger like activity), patterning (in a Simon like activity), and observing (in an I-Spy like activity). The games themselves offer 2 levels:easy and super easy.Once kids have played each one, there is a "bonus" dance party at the end where kids can choose a character to move to the music. My daughter quickly learned that the dance party music never changed and each character followed the same pattern of steps over and over.

All in all, my daughter liked the game because she could interact (albeit minimally) with the characters. It did hold her attention for a couple hours during a long car trip. However, it does not deliver the same level of content and challenge as other Leapster cartridges. For my purposes, I would have been better off buying a Backyardigans DVD and saving about $10 to use on gas!:(
